KUALA LUMPUR: The newly launched KTM Segambut Utara station in Kuala Lumpur will benefit 90,000 commuters, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.
He said the station will cover the Segambut, Kepong, Jinjang and Mont Kiara areas, with a projected population increase of over 100,000 people in the future.
"This clearly shows that the planning for the construction of this station is not reactive, but rather data-based and takes into account long-term needs and usage patterns," he said at the launch of the station in Segambut today.
Loke also said that the station has the capacity to accommodate up to 8,000 passengers per hour in each direction during peak hours, with an estimated handling of nearly 580,000 passengers per year.
Loke also added that the Transport Ministry has allocated RM1.5 million to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to build or upgrade about 100 bus stops across the capital.
"I hope Kuala Lumpur City Hall can complete the works within three months and identify areas in need across Kuala Lumpur, not just Segambut," he said.
